G2 secure upper semis spot over FURIA at BLAST Premier Fall Finals

In a rematch from last week's DreamHack Masters Winter upper bracket series on the exact same maps, G2 took their revenge to drop FURIA into the lower bracket at BLAST.

The French-Balkan team will next face the winner of the OG-BIG in the upper bracket semi-finals, while FURIA will lock horns with the loser of the aforementioned opening match in the lower bracket.

Inferno looked like a walk in the park for FURIA, who seemed to have G2's defense all figured out just like the last time the two teams faced each other last week. Constantly abusing picks all over the map, the Brazilians steamrolled Nemanja "⁠nexa⁠" Isaković and company on the back of an 11-4 first half, clinching the opening map 16-5 to enter the series on a strong foot.

huNter pulled G2 over the finish line with a big Nuke performance

A crazy Mirage affair followed where G2 had to stay strong mentally to equalize the series, as they gave up two big early advantages on both sides. The French-Balkan side was first up 6-2 as Terrorists before FURIA's double AWP setup ruined the half for them, and in the second half the Brazilians came back from a 11-15 deficit with repeat executes towards the B bombsite. However, G2 prevailed in overtime after all, thanks to Nikola "⁠NiKo⁠" Kovač and Nemanja "⁠huNter-⁠" Kovač clutching back-to-back 1v2s.

Just like in the previous series between the two teams, the match came down to a Nuke decider. This time it was G2 who came out on top despite slow starts in both halves, with huNter- and François "⁠amanek⁠" Delaunay putting up the brunt of the numbers and nexa helping out late in the game with several impactful multikills to push his team over the finish line.
